Thyroid Support Supplements

The thyroid gland is a butterfly-shaped gland located on the front side of your neck.

Your thyroid is responsible for producing hormones that regulate many important functions in your body, including your metabolism and energy levels.

Lower than normal thyroid hormone levels is called hypothyroidism while higher than normal thyroid levels cause hyperthyroidism (Grave's Disease).

We'll discuss different supplements used for lower-than-normal thyroid levels (Hypothyroidism). Lower than normal thyroid levels can be caused by two reasons:

  1. Low iodine levels, a common mineral added to table salt
  2. An autoimmune disorder where the body's immune system attacks the thyroid gland, a condition we call Hashimoto's hypothyroidism.

Potassium Iodide

Potassium iodide is a supplement that has been shown to be effective in supporting thyroid health by ensuring that the thyroid gland has enough iodine. It is also taken to protect the thyroid gland during radiation exposures.

Selenium

Selenium is a vital trace element that plays an important role in the proper functioning of your thyroid gland. Selenium is found in high concentrations in thyroid tissue than in any other tissue in the body.

Kelp

Kelp is a type of seaweed that is rich in iodine, which is essential for healthy thyroid function.

Kelp supplements also contain other nutrients like calcium and magnesium, which are essential for overall health. Taking a kelp supplement can help improve your energy levels, metabolism, and overall health.
